2. Abkhazia: Full-Day Trip From Sochi
The Republic of Abkhazia is a gemstone on the Black Sea with its ancient and in some ways tragic history. Discover the truly heroic and courageous nature of the local people, a favorite place of rest for Joseph Stalin and the top Soviet political elites.
While on the tour, visit Stalin's dacha (summer residence) at Lake Ritza and see the Soviet ruler's private bar, where he personally served drinks to his guests. Later, drive to Gagra and Novy Afon to take pictures of an abandoned railroad station and a spectacular ancient monastery. Then, visit the Pitsunda settlement and see the ancient orthodox church.
After lunch with a local, drive to the capital at the ancient city of Sukhum. There, enjoy a walk along the streets and embankment, drink coffee and feel the flavor of the local life.
