Sloth Watching Trail La Fortuna

You will be picked up from your hotel near downtown La Fortuna before being taken to the nature reserve.  Sloths are one of the main attractions at this park. Visitors sometimes see 4 to 5 sloths at varying distances. If they are at a distance, it's not a problem because the guides are equipped with binoculars and telescopes to observe them. Additionally, the guides will talk about the natural environment and you'll learn all about the lazy lifestyle of the sloth. The route is around 2 km and the tour lasts for approximately two hours. During this time you'll also have the chance to see different species of birds, frogs, and reptiles. The guides will keep an eye out for animals during the tour. Afterwards, you will return to your hotel.

Wildlife opportunities are great here with chances to see sloth, monkeys, basilisk lizards, iguanas, tree frogs and birds. Turtles nest on ocean beaches between July and October. DAY 3 BLD Tortuguero National Park Today you join a boat trip through the narrow rivers and channels of the flooded forest while your naturalist guide helps to point out wildlife and birds. Three tours included: Kayaking, Turtle Watching & Night Nature Walk DAY 4 BD Sarapiquí Lowland Forest Fly back to San José and travel on to Sarapiquí for 3 nights. Night walk is included to search of nocturnal animals such as porcupines, frogs, opossums and kinkajous. DAY 5 BLD OTS La Selva - Sarapiquí Today you spend the day at OTS La Selva Biological Reserve–widely considered one of the world’s most important sites for tropical forest research and conservation. DAY 6 BD - Sarapiquí Free day to relax in your lodge’s grounds or take an optional excursion, such as a nature boat trip on the Sarapiquí river or tubing. DAY 7 BLD Remote Nature Retreat - Boca Tapada Today you travel across the plains for a 3 night stay in the remote lowlands at Boca Tapada in northern Costa Rica. DAY 8 BLD Boca Tapada Your Guide will offers three excellent experiences such as nature safaris by boat or on trails or night walks in the forest which you choose. DAY 9 BLD Boca Tapada - La Fortuna A free day to relax and enjoy the grounds of your lodge or visit La Fortuna and Arenal Volcano Lake. Two experiences included: Kayaking, Guided Nature Walk, SUP, or Waterfalls. DAY 10 BLD Cloud forest Travel this morning to the quiet of the cloud forest where you stay for 2 nights at Bajos del Toro or Los Angeles. DAY 11 BLD Bajos del Toro - Los Angeles A day to enjoy trails through the extraordinarily rich habitat of the cloud forest. There are great birding opportunities. DAY 12 BLD Tarcoles - Carara National Park We are staying in the Pacific Central and we will explore the famous Carara National Park and Tarcoles River. Three experiences are included: National Park Guided Walk, Kayak, Horseback riding, Tarcoles River Boat Tour or Zip Lining. DAY 13 BLD Jaco - Playa Herradura We will visit several beaches in the area where we will do surfing, SUP, waterfall exploring, and trekking in beautiful view points. DAY 14 BLD Manuel Antonio National Park We drive 1 hour to Manuel Antonio and explore this beautiful National Park. DAY 15 B San Jose After a final dawn in the Central Pacific, you return by road to San José airport for your international flight home.
