A day to remember in the beautiful west coast of Portugal. Always with the ocean on your sight. Small fishing villages, historical heritage, 30 meters high waves, a taste of Portugal with some snacks and drinks...The perfect blend.
What to Expect
By exploring the Ocean side of Portugal you can be sure that in the end of the day you will have your heart, your mind and your memory card full of spectacular images. After your pickup at your hotel you will start to amaze you with Guincho Beach. On the edge of the Natural park of Sintra-Cascais, Guincho is a wild beach much appreciated by the surf and kite surf community.
Continuing the road to North you will stop on the westernmost point in continental Europe. "Where the land ends and the sea biggins" wrote a famous Portuguese writer. From here you can take a glimpse of what you will see next.... See Sintra coastline with Praia da Adraga, Praia Grande, Praia das Maçãs, Azenhas do Mar,... so many beaches that it will difficult for you to choose which you love the most.
Going up to Ericeira, the only World Surfing Reserve in Europe and one of the three in the world is a fishing village with visible growth but still typical. From a central Fisherman's Beach to Ribeira d'Ilhas the beach that was the first Portuguese stage to receive events of great relevance in the international surf scene, Ericeira has it all. Continuing the ride to Peniche...Peniche The Wave Capital has a great natural beauty and an amazing landscape. Since 2010 Peniche is the tenth spot in eleven where the world champion tour of surfing best known as WSL happens.
To finish your day literally in big you will arrive to Nazaré. In 2011 Nazaré got into the Guiness World Book with the biggest wave ever surfed with 30 meters high by the Havaiian Gerrett McNamara and than again in 2014 the French Benjamin Sanchis got a new world record with a 33 meters high surfed wave.
For those who want to go beyond the sights and want to go for the action it is also possible to take surf lessons or experiences in one of the many beaches depending on the sea conditions and/or each one surf skills.
