Sintra: Portuguese Beaches and Colares Private Jeep Tour

10. Sintra: Portuguese Beaches and Colares Private Jeep Tour

At beginning of your private tour, you will be picked up at your accommodation at 9:00 AM, where you will meet your friendly guide and your fantastic 4x4 jeep that will be yours for the day. Sintra is not just the magical, mountainous villa people know of but it's also a whole council of 319,2 km² that includes an amazing coastline, with more than a dozen natural beaches, and a vast area of rural villages with lots of traditions. This tour aims to show you not just Sintra's center and the well-known mountain with the princess-like castle on the top, but also the less-visited places in this region, that are true gems ready to be discovered. There is no better way to do so than on board a 4x4 classic Portuguese jeep. After that, it's time to explore Sintra's mountain, where you will get chance to see and know all of the sights and monuments' history (choose one monument to visit in the inside). From Pena Palace, the famous fairy-tale-like palace on the top of the hill, to Quinta da Regaleira with its enigmatic grottoes and mysteries, passing through the Moorish Castle, Monserrate Palace, and many more.  From Sintra's mountain, you then head to the beautiful countryside following the century old tram line, until you reach Colares, where life is simple and agriculture predominates, as well as wine making. Colares has the oldest wine seller in the country and you will be taken there for a brief visit, before getting to know Portugal's wine traditions a little better. From the wine cellar, you head across the winding road trail to some of the stunning Portuguese beaches such as Praia Grande and Praia Pequena, before stopping at Azenhas do Mar. Located between the ocean and a big cliff, this small town has a heavenly location and is among the most appreciated and exciting beaches in Europe. You will also stop at Adraga Beach, another of Sintra's gems, so you can catch the ocean breeze and relax a little, while overlooking the wild scenery. From there, you go off-road trail to a hidden, secret location, that you would only reach with the help of a 4x4 vehicle (not even all the local know about it). A true picture perfect location, with stunning and breathtaking views you will never forget.   You head back to starting point of the tour, but this time via off-road tracks so you have a little more adventure, before finishing this authentic tour of Sintra — for those who are looking for more than the conventional.

the guide was very friendly and professional. the arrangements of the trip was quite good. we went to the different places with sufficient time to enjoy. i recommended this company to explore Sintra. one thing that you will have to be careful: if you're the only one to book one trip, it might be cancelled or merged into another trip.

The tour guide Ronaldo was friendly and definitely showed us more than expected. But for the castle in Sintra I suggest take a whole day and not just 90 min. The park is beautiful and worth walking around too.

Excellent and so much fun! We loved this tour and the tour guid Francisco was friendly and very knowledgeable. We will book again for sure! Thanks Francisco!
