Enjoy an ecological walk through the surrounding mountains of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta followed by a refreshing river swim in the middle of the nature reserve. Upon arrival, you can interact with one of the oldest indigenous tribes in the area (the Kogi). The Kogi are descendants of the Tairona culture that flourished before the Spanish conquest. The Kogi understand the earth as a living thing and see humanity as their "children". On the way to the indigenous village of Tungueka you can see the majesty of the Santa Marta Sierra Nevada mountains. The peaks are only 45 km from the Caribbean coast. This incredible adventure is so worth the money and (strenuous) effort! Not only is it the most memorable thing we did during our 2+ week stay in Colombia but I'd rank it among the top tours I've done anywhere in the 23 Latin American countries I've visited! Way better than overcrowded Machu Picchu, which the Lost City predates by 650 years. We were a group of 4 women with 2 Colombian guides, one lead & one sweep so each of us could hike at our own pace. We were fortunate to have exceptionally experienced guides--one even worked as a teenager with the archeological team that reconstructed the site in the 1970s! After long days trekking through dense jungle and challenging terrain, staying in camps was comfortable and allowed us to keep our packs light. The camps are large open air pavilions with beds w/mosquito nets, electricity, bathrooms, showers, and a cook who serves hearty meals. Finally, the site itself is magnificent with its remarkable terraces nestled in the lush rainforest.

AMAZING experience! I was worried about details of booking a trip in Columbia from US. After reading a few reviews, I was worried that I might have trouble with the steps up to the Lost City as I'm 60 with bilateral knee replacements BUT...trip was amazing & I had no trouble with the hiking. However, be informed....you will be constantly WET either from sweating in the humidity or from rain. Your clothes & shoes will NOT dry. Bring 1 set of hiking clothes & 1 set of dry camp clothes. Just put on your wet ones each day. Not worth carrying the weight of more dry clothes as they won't be dry for long. Bring extra dry SOCKS for each day. May want to try plastic bread bags over socks inside shoes to keep socks dry. I used sturdy hiking boots & poles as trail is very rocky & muddy. Distance LONGER than listed (measuring doesnt count trail curves). We had 37 miles total. Great Food & snacks! Can also buy drinks, snacks.Bring water for 1st day.Refill in camp.Guides informed. Bedding provided.

Communication and pick-up went really well. Don't expect an air-conditioned van with seatbelts - but it was the best tour ever! We went on an adventurous journey into the mountain region to Minca, where we had a small breakfast - perfect. Then we relaxed on to the waterfalls, which aren't spectacular but are refreshing. And then on to the Sierra Minca hostel. The view from there is incredible, we love it, the food is delicious, the people are in a really good mood. The break did us so much good. We relaxed and enjoyed it. If you want to see something of Colombia without being bothered by tourist stuff, then do this tour. Camillo is a really nice guy and an excellent driver. We wish him and his family all the best and thank you for the great day.

The tour was amazing, our guide was searching for birds professionally and patiently and showed them to us. We saw PLENTY of them!! Including toucan (twice). It was really impressing, I recommend this tour to everyone who loves birds.

AMAZING! What a wonderful experience. Our tour guide Sadan was THE BEST!
