Enjoy a day tour of Tuscany’s villages and wine regions, traveling from Pisa into the heart of the beautiful Tuscan countryside. Visit the town of San Gimignano, the wine territory of Chianti, the medieval town of Siena, and the Monteriggioni fortress.
What to Expect
San Gimignano, the Chianti area, and medieval Siena are situated in the heart of picturesque Tuscany, and are all compelling destinations for those who want to learn about the region’s history and traditions.
The first stop on this extended full-day tour is San Gimignano, a magnificent example of a medieval urban town. You’ll have free time to explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site with its splendid squares, palaces, churches, and magnificent towers.
Then you’ll head to a simple yet elegant rural hamlet in the Chianti countryside for lunch and 2 wine tastings. On arrival, you’ll be shown around the estate and visit its medieval chapel.
Hear about the estate's fascinating history and background before you stop at a panoramic terrace to enjoy a tasting of Chianti Classico, accompanied by some snacks.
Continue to the restaurant where a typical Tuscan lunch will be served, along with 2 excellent products of the estate – a Riserva and an IGP wine. Take your time after lunch to wander about or relax in the villa's lush gardens.
In the afternoon the tour continues on to Siena. There will be 4 official guides (English, Spanish, French, and Russian speakers) to lead a tour of the city center. You’ll have the opportunity to admire the magnificent cathedral and the Town Hall in the Piazza del Campo, the setting of the world famous Palio horse race.
Your full-day tour ends with a visit to the imposing Monteriggioni medieval fortress.
