What to Expect
Get to know Siem Reap with a full-day bike ride through the countryside. Enjoy an up-close-and-personal look at the region and its way of life as you are guided by a local.
Start with a leisurely ride on quiet roads along the Siem Reap River, observing the close connection between the river and those that live on its banks. Stop off to explore an ancient pagoda and learn about its importance to Siem Reap.
Eventually, you will find yourself riding along a dirt road as you travel in the middle of numerous rice paddy fields. You will likely see farmers in their fields with their water buffaloes.
Continue through villages, saying hello to the curious children and observing typical village activities such as the hand-weaving of bamboo baskets. Then take a break from cycling as you visit a natural palm sugar producer. Learn how to harvest and boil the liquid into hard sugar, and enjoy a taste.
Stop off for lunch, eating local cuisine at a restaurant near West Baray, a rectangular earthen reservoir. Then continue on through rural Cambodia on your way back to Siem Reap.
