2. Tokyo: Fuji Wind & Ice Cave, Ninja Village & Hot Spring Tour
Discover 2 fantastic caves, immerse yourself in ninja culture, and visit a hot spring on this full-day trip from Tokyo. Explore the Fugaku Wind Cave and Narusawa Ice Cave with your guide, then enjoy the Ninja Experience Zone in Shinobi No Sato Ninja Village and relax in the Fujiyama Hot Spring. After heading to 1 of 2 meeting points in Tokyo, drive toward the Mt. Fuji area with your guide. Once there, visit the Fugaku Wind Cave, a designated “Natural Monument of Japan” that was used as a natural refrigerator in the past because of its average temperature of 3 degrees Celsius. Explore the inside of the cave with your guide, seeing icicles that do not melt in summer and strange lava forms. Feel a sense of strangeness as there’s no echo in the cave due to the basalt on the walls. You will also have time to buy cold-weather goods, food, and drinks at the store if you wish. Next, continue to the Narusawa Ice Cave, formed by the eruption of Mt. Fuji more than 1,000 years ago. With a temperature between 0 and 3 degrees all year round, it was used as an ice reservoir by the Japanese royal family. Once there, take a guided walk around the ice cave to appreciate its wide variety of cave features. Admire another wonder designated a “Natural Monument of Japan,” and learn about its geological value that is recognized around the world. After exploring Narusawa Ice Cave, drive toward Shinobi No Sato Ninja Village. In the Japanese Courtyard and Garden, explore the 4 seasons of Japan via the plants on display. To relax, soak your feet in a foot bath while enjoying the scenery of Mt. Fuji. Visit the Ninja Experience Zone, the highlight of the Ninja Village. Peruse the featured display “Thunder Blade,” and have the chance to participate in other activities — including the Ninja House, Kendo Room, Occult Sciences Practice Room, and Ninja Costume Fitting — at an extra cost. If you’re tired or hungry, refuel at the snack shop, which serves dumplings made of matcha from the foot of Mt. Fuji and ice cream made of local fruits. Alternatively, drop by the "Snow & Moon & Wind & Flower" restaurant to try creative dishes with fresh ingredients from the foot of Mt. Fuji. When the ninja display is closed, this tour visits Oshino Hakkai instead. There, discover an 8-stream spring formed by Mt. Fuji’s melted snow. Marvel at the spectacular scenery of a shining pool seeming to merge with the majestic mountain, attracting photographers from all over the world. After the Ninja Village or Oshino Hakkai, round off your tour with a relaxing experience at the Fujiyama Hot Spring, located at the foot of Mt. Fuji. At an extra cost, take a restful dip in the rejuvenating waters in Japan’s largest wooden bath before returning to Tokyo.
