Take a full-day excursion from Sharm el Sheikh to visit ancient St. Catherine's Monastery and the Red Sea city of Dahab. You’ll have a chance to explore the Red Sea’s “Flower Power” city and shop and have lunch there as well.
What to Expect
This full-day tour takes you from Sharm el Skeikh approximately 220 kilometers north-west to St. Catherine to visit the Greek Orthodox St. Catherine’s Monastery. This is a site that is important to both Christianity and Islam.
The church is one of the most famous in the world. Constructed between 527 and 565 A.D. it is believed to have been built around the Burning Bush seen by Moses. The Monastery is named after St. Catherine, who was tortured and beheaded for her Christian beliefs. During your visit you will see the Chapel of the Burning Bush, important icons of worship, and the famous Mosaic of Transfiguration.
After visiting the monastery, you’ll continue on to Dahab, known as the Flower Power city of the Red Sea. You’ll go on a city tour and a shopping tour in Dahab, and then have lunch at a local restaurant before heading back to Sharm El Sheikh.
