What to Expect
Ras Mohammed National Park lies some 33 miles (55 kilometers) south of Sharm el Sheikh at the peak of the Sinai Peninsula. Said to be one of the most beautiful sites in the Sinai, it is also a snorkeling paradise. The National Park It is renowned for having the most exquisite coral reefs in the world and has escaped the developments of the Red Sea to remain as a refuge for rare marine life.
Your first stop will be at the promontory of Ras Mohamed, rising almost 200 feet (60 meters) above sea level. On the summit lies the so called Shark Observatory from where you can enjoy unique views of the Gulf of Aqaba.
Continue your drive to the main beach of the park where snorkeling, swimming or sunbathing can be enjoyed at some leisure. Laze in the sun with a book or catch up on your tan, or jump in the water and swim among the plentiful fish.
Expect to see schools of colorful reef fish, spectacular soft white reef walls and the occasional shipwreck! Look out for glass fish, lion fish, tuna and barracuda.
You will also stop at the mangrove swamp of Ras Mohamed to see how the plants that feed on salt water reject the salt through their leaves. At the end of the 8-hour excursion, we will make our way back to Sharm el Sheikh for a convenient drop-off.
