Enjoy over 15 of the best traditional Shanghainese dishes on Yunnan Road, the old border between the former French Concession and Shanghai residential areas, on this 3-hour tour. Get to try and be a judge of the iconic soup dumplings.
What to Expect
Sit in different local restaurants and see how old school Shanghaineses catch up with their friends in the local language, not Mandarin. You will start your tour at Xintiandi area to taste one of the best soup dumpling in Shanghai. Share your feelings toward the construction of the dumplings skin, meat filling and the soup determining the flavor.
After your soup dumpling tasting, your guide will walk you to famous Yunnan Road (15 minutes away). Then, sit down in three different traditional restaurants and one dessert shop. On your way, you will see the transformation of French lane apartments to stone door houses (Shikumen), where you can look deep through the daily life of locals such as street vendors, white collar office workers and mahjong players.
During this tour, you will find the mixed food culture through these authentic Shanghainese dishes, like parched chicken, red-braised pork, scallion oil noodles, roasted duck, candied lotus rice, moon cakes, spring rolls etc. Between food stops, you will be offered some Longjing green tea or Fujian black tea while your guide will share more insight and interesting stories about Shanghai.
Even if it's pretty much a food tasting tour, your stomach will be totally fulfilled by the time you finish the tour.
