Overview

What to Expect
Once known as the “Paris of the Orient,” Shanghai has emerged from its revolutionary doldrums and is set to put the French “City of Lights” in the shade. On this 4-hour tour you will visit the extraordinary Shanghai Museum - one of the best museums in the world – and take in the diverse architectural styles of the Bund

Your guide will pick you up from your hote and transfer you by private vehicle to the Bund. Also called the Zhongshan Road, the Bund is Shanghai’s famous waterfront district and has been regarded as the symbol of the city for hundreds of years.

The most famous sight of the 2.5 mile (4 kilometer) stretch of river are the 52 buildings located on the west side and constructed in various architectural styles, including Gothic, Baroque, Romanesque, Classical and the Renaissance.

The lively neighborhood is now home to many fancy bars and restaurants and boasts a truly electric atmosphere.

Next you will go to Shanghai Museum. The museum moved to its current site at People’s Square in 1995 and the urn-shaped building is one of the most impressive new structures in the city and an attraction in itself.

Once inside, explore the magnificent galleries to view intricate jade carvings, imperial furniture, ceramics, coins and calligraphy.

Look out for items of special significance, such as one of 3 extant specimens of a "transparent" bronze mirror from the Han Dynasty. Galleries not to be missed include the Ceramics Gallery, Painting Gallery and Gallery of Bronzes.

Your tour concludes with a drop-off back at your city center hotel.
