Our guide was really knowledgable and friendly, and despite not being fluent in English he tried very hard to explain every detail to us in English (assuming it’s my fault for booking a Spanish speaking tour). • Seville: 2–Hour Guadalquivir River Kayaking Tour

    7. Seville: 2–Hour Guadalquivir River Kayaking Tour

Discover the river the Romans named Betis, now known as Guadalquivir River, meaning "the Big River" in Arabic. It holds many stories and fun facts about the history of Seville. Let your experienced professional guide take you on a journey through some of Seville's most important historical moments such as the discovery of America and the first trip around the world. See sights such as Isla de La Cartuja, Maestranza, El Barrio del Arenal and the Universal Exhibition of 1992. Find out why this river was very important during the golden era of Seville, which lasted about 150 years. Seville was the main port of Europe for incoming goods from America such as gold, silver and tobacco. The river was sanded in the 17th century and Seville became less important. For the Expo 92, the river was restored and it is now used for cruises and kayaking.

Fantastic adventure w/guide Federico! Sandals provided free, water available to buy and definitely will get very wet! Beautiful scenery along the river and very little boat traffic. Had family with 5 members and need to be in excellent physical shape.

  • Seville: Guadalquivir River Kayak Tour

    8. Seville: Guadalquivir River Kayak Tour

Start the tour by heading down to the river in downtown Seville and meeting your guide. First, have a quick briefing session on land where the guide will explain how to paddle and direct the kayak. Then, get kitted out with all the necessary equipment and head out onto the water.  During the tour, if you have hired a guide or you are a group of 6 or more people, listen as they explain about the history of Seville, the Spanish navigation, the Golden Age, the circumnavigation of Magallanes, and Sebastian Elcano, and the Indian Race. Your guide will also snap some pictures with their Go Pro so you have some memories to take home with you. If you are in a group of 15 or more, the guide will escort you with the motorboat during the entire tour.

A good river for beginners with a simple route to follow. Only pay for a guide if absolutely necessary. The river is very wide and there are plenty of people to come to your aid should the unexpected arise.
