Full description
Depart from your hotel and journey towards Mt. Seoraksan, also known as Mt. Sorak, the highest in the Taebaeksanmaek Mountain Range. This area boasts beautiful landscape and scenery all year round. The national park, designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, covers 154 square miles (398 sq km) and is home to more than 2,000 animal species and 1,400 rare plant species. As you follow your guide along a well-maintained path, keep an eye out for a variety of animals such as musk deer.  Next, you'll proceed to the Gwongeumseong Fortress by cable car. It is also called Gwon-Kim Castle as there was a legend that two generals named Gwon and Kim built the castle to avoid war. As you ascend, view the interesting rock formations of the Gwongeumseong region, including Ulsanbawi Rock, and watch the East Sea come into sight.  Let your guide show you around the mountain's Shinheungsa Temple, with its giant bronze Buddha standing guard. Then you'll be transferred to Daepohang Port Fish Market, where eel, flounder, yellowtail and gourmet seafood are sold. See the lively stalls and restaurants surrounding the fish market, selling dishes featuring the local seafood. Your Mt. Seorak tour ends with transfer back to your hotel after a full day. On Fridays, instead of Daepohang Fish Market, you will visit Sokcho Beach where you can admire the clear water, white sand, and beautiful pine forest. After the long tour you will be dropped-off at Myeongdong Station.

Very nice place, only we could hardly grab the cable car as the guide told us about the weather, after being there we saw that it was already working and we could climb the mountain that is the most impressive part of the tour if not It would not have been so good.

It's beautiful up there!!!

We almost didn't make it because tour guide picked us up at 8am (which was quite late) from the hotel... It was a 3 1/2 hours drive, while on the way she mentioned that tickets are sold out... when we got there, we were told no more tickets for the cable car to get up & were told to just go around and offered free lunch... I didn't agree with the arrangement... Pissed as I am, we insisted that she find another option... We were made to wait until 4pm to get tickets and were ask to also pay additional fees for the extension of the driver and the couch.. By the way, we were group of 20 people and were squeezed in a small couch!!! My group is 6pax, 4 of us were made to sat at the very back part. My mom who's 75 and aunt who's 71 years old sat in front separately... Quite disappointing! There should be priorities for the elderly.

Interesting tour on the highest mountain in South Korea, the highest located in the North. 3 hours transfer. Uninspiring guide, little information on everything. At the end walk on a Korean beach. Excursion bought with the Friday discount, otherwise at full price the cost would have been really excessive.
