Really enjoyed this tour of the island. Our guide, Robert, was a good driver, as well as being good fun. He pointed out lots of things along the way, and we stopped at some nice viewpoints for a quick photo as well as the main itinerary places. It was great to see different parts of the island, including the coastline and mountains. And to see where some of the old roads used to go compared with the newer ones through the tunnels. We started and finished in glorious sunshine, but were in the clouds at the top. It would perhaps have been helpful in the ‘what to bring’ suggestions to include a warmer layer as it was a bit chilly and damp there. Seeing the ancient trees looming out of the mist was very cool though. There’s a lunch stop where you can get a reasonable meal and drinks. All in all a worthwhile and enjoyable day.

The driver picked us up from the hotel. Fist stop was in madeira city and it was nice and informative. Then went to the wineyard, we had a little walk under the wine trees and then had luch and it was amazing! So good food and wines! The atmosphere was nice too. Then went to third wineyard to tasted some wines in lovely private home by amazing views. Then to last winery, it was a bit unnecessery stop.

Tony was an exceptional guide, both knowledgeable and friendly and with a funny charm that made you feel at ease from the start. We saw some incredible views and the natural pools were a highlight of the whole holiday not just the day trip! Highly recommend as a way of seeing a lot of the sights in a day!

A wonderful day trip, got to see so much! The guide Michael was so informational and friendly. Really good price too for how much we got to see and even a wine tasting at the end!

Really great trip. Carlos was a fab guide. 100% recommend
