Spend a delightful day at the emerald waters of Lake Königssee in the Berchtesgaden Alps of Bavaria. Departing from Munich, you'll journey along the picturesque German Alpine Road into the stunning valley of Berchtesgaden. Upon arrival at Königssee, embark on a boat ride to the peninsula. During the cruise, listen for the famous echo of Königssee, amplified by the towering rock cliffs, and watch for the distinctive silhouette of the "Sleeping Witch" in the surrounding mountains. Once back on shore, visit the St. Bartholoma Chapel, dating back to 1134, situated at the base of Germany’s second-highest peak, the 8,900-foot (2,700-meter) Watzmann. Continue to Salet, where a footpath leads you to Lake Obersee. Here, take in the breathtaking views of Germany’s tallest waterfall, the Röthbachfall. Please note: -During the winter season (mid-October to mid-April), the boat only operates to St. Bartholoma and does not go to Salet. Therefore, it is not possible to visit the waterfall during this period. Instead, we will explore the charming old town of Berchtesgaden. -Boat tickets and lunch are not included in the tour price. Please pay for the boat tickets in cash directly to the tour guide. -Return to Munich for a hotel drop-off. The entire length of this journey into a serene wilderness is 8-10 hours.

Ride an air-conditioned bus to Königsee, a 2.5-hour trip, and along the way, take the chance to admire the countryside and hear commentary from your guide. Upon arrival at the salt mines of Berchtesgaden, put on miner’s clothes and head deep into the mountain before gliding down the miner’s slide. See the mysterious glowing salt grottoes and raft across a 100-meter long subterranean wooden raft. This fun-filled tour is perfect for families and children. Continue to Königssee, climb aboard a boat and ride across the lake to St. Bartholomä island. As you enjoy the cruise, hear the magnificent echo show. Be picked up in Salzburg and enjoy a scenic drive to the region. Once there, take a boat trip on the emerald green water of the 8-km-long Königssee amidst the steep rock faces (own expense). Glide silently and in an environmentally friendly way along the east face of the Watzmann Mountain towards Admire its striking red onion domes which can be seen from afar. Disembark from the boat and take a fascinating tour of the Salt Mine (own expense). Admire other attractions in the area including the Obersee lake with its reflection of the Hagen Mountain Range, and the Röthbach waterfall, Germany's largest.

DAY 1 to Neuschwanstein (as a 1 day-tour or part of a mutliple-days-tour): We meet in your hotel in Munich (On request: Via Concentration Camp Dachau, Wieskirche (UNESCO). Or via Castle Linderhof, Abbey Ettal, Oberammmergau (with opt. Alpine Coaster). DAY 2 (It's possible to add DAY 2 itenrary to DAY 1 on the same day): Augsburg, Donauwörth, Harburg, Nördlingen, Dinkelsbühl, Rothenburg o. d. Taubern (overnight or back to Munich) DAY 3 (or only this day): Pick-up in Rothenburg (or Munich), drive to Eagles Nest (the last 20 minutes by special summit-bus), Hitler's tea house (now restaurant), Obersalzberg documentation center, Remains of Hitler residence. Berchtesgaden walk, Königssee (on request: by boat to picturesque Sankt Bartholomä church and to Germany's highest water fall). DAY 4 (It's possible to add DAY 4 itenrary to DAY 2 on the same day): Salzburg (Mirabell Palace with garden (from"Sound of Music"), 2 Mozart houses Cathedral, Prince Archbishop's residence, Fortress "Hohensalzburg" etc.). Back to Munich or drop off in Salzburg or even Venice (optional).

The road leads to one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Berchtesgaden and after a short photo stop here continue to the Obersalzberg Eagle’s Nest bus terminal. Here board a specially equipped mountain bus and experience a breathtaking ride up the four-mile (6.4 kilometers) road, negotiating a 27% incline up to a rocky plateau. Disembark the bus here and walk through the 406 foot (124 meters) tunnel to the original WWII brass elevator up to the Eagle’s Nest. Feel the palpable sense of history as the elevator carries you a further 406 feet (124 meters) through the heart of the Kehlstein mountain and straight into Hitler’s former lair. On arrival, take a fascinating tour of the building and afterward get some free time to enjoy the birdseye views and refreshments. Descend from the Obersalzberg toward the mountain town of Berchtesgaden. See the fortress-like system of underground bunker complexes that were built by the Nazis to be used as air-raid shelters, a military headquarters, and a possible last refuge for the Third Reich leaders. Having explored here, emerge back into the daylight and after a short walk, visit the grounds of Hitler’s now destroyed home, known as the Berghof. Continue to the salt mine, explore the underground world of a 500-year-old salt mine. Relax on a scenic return drive along the Königssee River to Salzburg, where your tour concludes with a drop off at your accommodation or chosen central location.

Visit the Berchtesgaden The best time to visit is during summer for outdoor activities, winter for skiing and festive atmosphere, or spring and autumn for mild weather and scenic views.

In the last little southeastern corner of Germany, surrounded by an amphitheatre of majestic mountains, is the King’s Lake, or Königsee. It sits at the heart of the Berchtesgaden National Park, Germany’s only alpine national park and a recognized UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The 192 meters deep lake is therefore only navigated by electrical boats that have operated here for more than 100 years, thanks to Prince-Regent Luitpold of Bavaria, who was afraid the noise would scare away the deer he so liked to hunt here in the 19th century. We should forget that the almost vertical walls of the mountains here cause an echo that can be heard over 7 times. During our visit, you will hear said echo, but no longer caused by the king’s rifle but by the boatmen’s trumpet, reverberating over the mountains all the way to Austria. Let’s embark on a pure romantic journey over the Kings Lake, to see the St. Bartholomä peninsula just behind the east wall of the Watzmann mountain.
