Board a bus in Sarajevo and head out of the city. During the bus ride, find out how the war started, why the National Library of BH was destroyed, and how many people died. While driving to the Tunnel Museum along the Sniper Alley, listen to stories about what life was like during these years of darkness. After this introduction, discover the story of a vitally important 800 m long tunnel that connected the occupied and free Sarajevo territories. Upon arrival at the museum, pass through one part of the original tunnel and see the movie about the war in Sarajevo. Our tour guide was a police officer during the Siege of Sarajevo. He was very insightful and he managed to express himself clearly. It was very refreshing to hear the story from the person who experienced the Siege of Sarajevo himself. Definitely a tour worth going. If you were to choose just one tour for Sarajevo, choose this one. You will not regret it.

    Nermin was a perfect guide

This was the best 2.5 hours we spend in Sarajevo. Our driver and guide Nermin Vlajcic was really enthusiastic and told us his own story during the war 1992-95 as well as the story of the city, the inhabitants and their relentless fight to keep spirit high during 1425 days of siege. The actual tour of the tunnel was the highlight.

When you are in Sarajevo, you must book and experience this guided tour. I recommend it with my whole heart to everyone. Medrin, our guide, shared precious and invaluable insights. Visiting the museum without a guide does not give you any context nor enlightenment (pls do not do it). He is sincere, natural, does his utmost best and stays objective, by giving stats and facts but also human and sensitive and understanding all parties involved. He is a great man and proud of his beautiful city with all its ethnicities and religions living in harmony together. Medrin brings you to the museum and back (to Oldtown) and while you are in his van he continues by guiding and informing you while passing by the numerous highlights and giving it its background. If it were possible, I would give him 100 stars!
