Ride into the sunset on the off-the-beaten-paths of the Santiago mountains. The 6-hour horse back riding tour includes 3 hours on horse back, riding through the flora and fauna of the cordillera in the company of skilled local cowboys.
What to Expect
Enjoy a sunset horseback ride through the mountains of Santiago, following local <>arrieros (cowboys), to take in the stunning vistas and abundant flora and fauna of the rugged mountain range.

Following a pick-up from your Santiago hotel, relax on the 30-minute drive into the cordillera. Upon arrival, put on your chaps and mount your criollo, a stout and hardy long-distance horse breed known for its stamina in mountainous terrain.

The cowboys will give you a brief safety training and some riding instruction, though no prior experience is required. Then, once you are comfortable on your horse, ride off to scale mountain paths and cross streams. Learn about the horses, abundant bird life, and native flora and fauna as you ride. There will be plenty of opportunities to stop to take great photos of the vast panoramas.

After the sun has set, return to an arriero ranch to meet his family, and enjoy a cup of authentic mate tea. This traditional South American drink is typically sipped from a gourd through a metal straw. Coffee is also available if you prefer. Feast on a picnic of locally baked bread, seasonal fruits, cheese, cookies, and more, before your return transfer to Santiago.
