Minca: Full-Day Coffee and Cocoa Tour from Santa Marta

Pickup was fine though they advertised hotel pickup and then at the last moment said it was too busy and to come to their store front which was fairly close to our hotel. The bus up to Minca sucked, we were in the back and couldnt see a dam thing all the way, except people's ankles as the seats are higher than the windows. Minca was good though they were disorganized and we had to wait an hour to join the next group (16 person maximum). The walk was great, up a bumpy road with lots of traffic and we enjoyed the water fall, and coffee farm. Access down to the waterfall and across the river to the coffee farm is incredibly unsafe for tourists. Plan on several kilometers of walking which we enjoyed despite the heat and terrain. Lunch was good with musical entertainment and presentations on Colombian flora and fauna, bamboo construction and then we all made cocoa chocolate bars which was fun and educational. Different bus back to town so we managed to see the mountains & Santa Marta.

Nice walk through the green forest with a bit hikeing (kind of, but I think, it is important to wear good shoes or watershoes), nice bath in a natural pool, very good food, also vegetarian and interesting facts about the nature/animals, coffee and cacao. There are some mosquitos at least in the rainy months. You have to wear your wet cloths all the time or you change cloths after the bath somewhere in the nature. The guide was speaking Spanish and English. We were around 14 people.

It was a great trip! We hiked thru jungles, took a break and swam near the beautiful waterfall, then we went to the coffee farm, saw how the coffee was made tasted a delicious coffee and coffee liquor, we also saw toucans there, it was beautiful! Then we hiked a bit more thru the jungles to a restaurant where we had the delicious meal with live music. After we learned about chocolate and made our own chocolates! The whole trip was really fun and good value for money! Definitely recommend to take this tour, you’ll not regret it!
