Embark on a guided day trip from Barcelona to Montserrat and the Penedès wine-growing region by minivan. Visit the monastery and the Museum of Monserrat, take a funicular up to the top of the mountain, or explore the many walks and viewpoints. This tour also includes a delicious three-course traditional lunch in the heart of the vineyards, as well as a very special visit and tasting to a family owned organic winery. There will be plenty of free time to explore Montserrat on your own. Pilgrims and other visitors have climbed the mountain to visit this sanctuary for nearly 1,000 years. You’ll also have the opportunity to visit the fascinating Museum of Montserrat, and browse its collections that range from the Archaeology of the Biblical East to Modern Painting and Sculpture. There are numerous walking and climbing trails on the mountain, ranging from easy strolls to serious hikes. Each trail offers a different perspective on the surrounding landscape, dotted with small chapels and hermitages.  If you'd rather not walk at all, then another option is to take the rack railways higher up the mountain, which also provides stunning views of the area. After a morning in Montserrat, we leave the mountain at around 1:00pm, heading for Penedès, home to the famous Cava champagne and, in particularly, home to Pares Balta where we'll visit their vast underground wine cellars. Before the winery visit, we will stop for lunch is a local farmhouse, for a traditional local lunch. The restaurant is set right in the middle of the vineyards, and will be something you'll never forget. The Pares Balta winery is situated in the Penedès wine-growing region, which boasts one of the widest varieties of grape of any wine-growing region in the world. The tour is a great chance to see exactly how the famous sparkling wine is produced, from the first pressing of the grapes to the second fermentation in the vast expanse of cellars. Of course, no winery visit would be complete without a taste of the stuff! At the den of the tour you'll get the chance to try some of the best Cava the region produces. We leave the winery at around 5:30pm, returning to Barcelona for around 6:30pm.

Enter the world of cava as you explore the historic Codorníu Winery with your guide. Visit the estate gardens and the museum to learn more about cava and the making of process. Descend 20 meters underground and take a train through the wine cellars before finishing your tour with a tasting of 3 premium cavas with a small aperitif. Your visit begins in Sala Puig, the Cathedral of Cava, where you may watch a short video introduction of the Codorniu history and wine-making. After, follow your guide to the museum and outside through the gardens where you have a chance to discover the modernist architecture by Puig i Cadafalch.  As you have learned more about cava and the process of how to make it, it is time to descend more than 20 meters underground to visit the dugout cellar tunnels with the electric train. At the end of the tour, it is time to taste the delicious sparkling wine. You are offered three different cavas of premium range to taste with a small aperitif.

This is the tour for all those who want to enjoy a fantastic experience cycling through vineyards, forests and wineries. We are great connoisseurs of the Penedès and the fourth generation of a family of winegrowers and we want to share our knowledge with you in a privileged environment such as the Penedès Wine region. Your local guide will make interesting explanations of the region and viticulture during the route, you will learn about the rich culture and history of the region and you will stop to enjoy an interesting tour in a family-owned and ecological winery to learn the secrets of wine & Cava production and enjoy a commented tasting. This is a small group to ensure a personalized experience with a maximum of 12 persons. Every Tuesday & Friday, weekdays, during all the year. You will meet at 10:00 AM at our Bike Center, at Lavern-Subirats train station and catch the return train around 2:00 PM (free parking if you arrive by car) and you will have the option to extend your bike rental if you prefer to keep the eBike for the rest of the day.

After meeting with your guide, you will travel to Montserrat where you will visit one of the best Cava cellars of the 14th century. Experience the nature of this unique jagged mountain and the ancient monastery hidden between the peaks. You will also get to know "La Moreneta", the Black Madonna, and her fascinating story. Next, visit the Local Farmers' Market where you can try the fabulous regional products of Catalonia. You'll stroll through the Plaza de Santa Maria, where the Romanesque architecture of the Monastery and the Church of Santa Maria de Montserrat merge with the stones of the mountain’s peaks.  You can get to know "La Moreneta", the Black Virgin inside the Benedictine Monastery, and can listen to the Children's Choir of Montserrat, which is made up of fifty pupils from the monastery school.  Following that, take a short and easy hike up the mountain to the viewpoint of the Creu de Sant Miquel, and enjoy the extraordinary view of the valley. You can then taste a delicious Catalan lunch in a traditional restaurant, admiring the incredible views of the Penedès Valley and the mountains of Montserrat. Your next stop will be to a 14th-century winery, which is one of the most important in Catalonia. You can take the opportunity to tour its plantations as you learn the cycles of vineyard growth and organic viticulture whilst accompanied by an expert guide. Get to know the place where both wine and sparkling wine are produced, before you end your fantastic tour tasting two different sparkling wines and one reserva sparkling wine.

From Barcelona, we will move to an important winery. In a comfortable bus, you will admire Spanish landscapes, and you will get a touch of how vineyards are planted. Wine culture in Spanish has a large tradition, even some archeologists think that the first vineyards were planted around 4.000 or 3.000 B.C. Thanks to the plenty of different types of grapes, people started creating wine culture and using it not only for their own consumption, but to start trading with it. We will visit an iconic winery in Cataluña, and on a guided tour, they will show us how they carry out their production, their facilities, their history, and everything in a walking tour through their plant. But this is not all! They will offer us a wine tasting, accompanied by some appetizers. The Spanish tradition of wine has a long history, but this area, Catalonia, has a special touch. You will learn about the varieties that grow here and you will understand the centuries-old tradition of wine in this part of Spain. After this experience, you will feel completely like a winemaker, having learned about its process, its importance in Spanish culture, and its great production that travels to many countries!

Join this fun and informative wine tour and tasting at a family-run vineyard in the celebrated wine growing region of Alt Penedès. Your visit will include a guided tour of the vineyards, the aging cellars and the warehouse. Your expert guide will explain the different techniques of winemaking and some of the secrets behind the aging processes.
