White water raft the rapids of Pacuare River on an 11-hour tour with round-trip transfers from San Jose. Experience the thrills of the class III and IV rapids of one of Costa Rica’s most beautiful rivers, and enjoy a traditional lunch in Siquirres.
What to Expect
Enjoy a thrilling full-day white water rafting adventure in one of Costa Rica’s most famous and beautiful rivers. The Rio Pacuare flows through lush rainforest on its way to the Carribean Sea, and is home to monkeys, jaguar, and more.
You will depart San Jose between 06:00 and 07:00 for the transfer, stopping for a typical Costa Rican breakfast in Paraíso. Continue to Tres Equis, where the guides will be waiting with all the rafting equipment. They will also give safety instructions and tips on paddling.
Considered one of the best whitewater rafting rivers in the world, the scenic beauty of the Pacuare’s waterfalls, flora and fauna, and hiking trails add to the picture. Look out for blue morpho butterflies fluttering in the breeze, sloths hanging from the branches, and the bright flash of toucans in the trees.
Your whitewater raft is a 3.5-hour journey of approximately 18 miles (29 kilometers), so it’s not for the faint-hearted or complete novice. Some rafting experience is highly recommended, and the minimum age for particpants is 12.
Once your river journey is over, you will all head to a restaurant in Siquirres in Limón Province, where you can freshen up with a shower before enjoying a traditional Costa Rican lunch.
