What You'll Do
  • Walk along San Francisco Bay and along a suspended promenade above the Financial District
  • Avoid the tourist crowds through a maze of narrow streets and alleyways in Chinatown
  • Enjoy your guide’s stories about the Gold Rush, the Great Earthquake, and the lives of the city’s extravagant characters
  • Explore the ancient Chinese deities, the Buddhist rites and the Taoist art of divination
San Francisco’s Downtown is the heart of today's city, and the site of today’s Chinatown was the heart of the original village. Discover these 2 vibrant neighborhoods on a 3-hour guided walk with a French-speaking guide providing commentary along the way.
What to Expect
Meet with your French-speaking guide under the clock of San Francisco’s Ferry Building, and get your first glimpse of Downtown. Walk along the waterfront, stopping to take in views of the islands in San Francisco Bay and of the Bay Bridge.

Your 3-hour tour then continues to the Rincon Center, an Art Déco building boasting stunning murals. Travel through the Financial District via a suspended promenade above the traffic, admiring the range of architectural styles.

In Chinatown, your guide will take you on a route that avoids the tourist crowds, and into a maze of narrow streets and alleyways where you'll encounter the ancient deities, Buddhist rites, and the Taoist art of divination. Meet local residents playing cards, chess, and mah-jongg in the local parks.

The tour ends at Chinatown’s Dragon Gate, at the corner of Grant and Bush Streets, close to the old French Quarter. From this point you can go shopping in Chinatown, take public transportation to your next destination, or walk to Union Square.
