Discover the incredible variety of delicious foods in San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood. You’ll enjoy courses at 5 different venues in historic “Little Italy” and sample the offerings at a candy maker, coffee roaster, Italian bakery, and more!
What to Expect
North Beach is a food lover's paradise and you’ll have a chance to see why on this 2-hour North Beach Food Tour. Entering the Little Italy neighborhood you’ll begin to notice the scent of baking bread and the aroma of strong coffee.
Stops and dining choices on the tour vary, but chances are you’ll enjoy antipasti, appetizers, pizza, pasta, breads, and end with cannoli from one of the oldest and best Italian bakeries anywhere! But just to be sure that all the bases are covered, you’ll probably also have some tiramisu from an even older Italian eatery, dating back to 1880.
Try some homemade fudge and hand-made truffles. Some of the best coffee in the world is roasted right here in North Beach and you’ll observe their tried and true process.
You’ll make 5 stops for food, starting out with pasta. The focus on the food tour is Italian but there may be some other foods thrown in as well!
Originally called The Latin Quarter, North Beach was home to people from all over the globe. In the 1900s Sicilian families began to arrive in San Francisco in great numbers, attracted by the relatively similar climate and good fishing conditions.
Stop in at the St. Francis National Shrine. Soak up the atmosphere of beautiful Washington Square at the base of Telegraph Hill and Coit Tower, and visit Saints Peter and Paul Church.
