What to Expect
The Eagle's Nest, or Kehlsteinhaus, is a retreat nestled high in the Kehlstein Mountains. It was originally given to Adolf Hitler as a 50th birthday gift, and offers historical insight as well as beautiful views. This tour will take you up into the mountains and over the German border into Bavaria, passing by the salt mines.
The first stop of the tour is in the Obersalzberg area, where you'll change buses to head to the Eagle's Nest high in the Kehlstein Mountains.
Hitler held many meetings in the Eagle's Nest, which he used as a conference center. You'll have free time to explore the old conference room, dining area, and small tea room with terraces. Your guide will explain the history and stories of this interesting retreat during your visit.
After leaving the Eagle's Nest, your tour will return to Salzburg.
