Visit the historic white village of Mojácar on the coast of Almeria, exploring its rich culture and Moorish past. The day trip's scenic return journey alone is not to be missed, taking in Cabo de Gata Natural Park and Sorbas' gravity-defying houses!
What to Expect
Discover the history and culture of Andalusia's wonderful, rustic towns and surrounding rurality with the emphasis on Mojácar – the famous white village elevated in the mountains, overlooking the Mediterranean coastline.
The journey to Mojácar passes through the wild landscape of the Cabo de Gata Natural Park and the scenic village of Carboneras, used as a setting for various movies, including Lawrence of Arabia.
Upon arrival in the historic Moorish village, break for a drink at its touristic center, Mojácar Beach. Then delve deeper, entering the Old Town to discover the pristine Plaza Nueva, the statue of La Mojáquera, Parterre Square, and the beautiful Church of Santa Maria, to name just a few of the sights.
There will be a break to relax on the panoramic terraces or shop for souvenirs before heading to the old fishing village of Garrucha for lunch and a stroll along the harbor and seafront. On the return journey you'll pass houses clinging to the edge of a deep ravine in Sorbas and, later, the Desert of Tabernas, before arriving back at the meeting point.
