Free walking tours are perfect for those visiting on shoestring budgets or simply unsure how much to pay in advance. You might not be surprised to hear that they're not strictly free, however. Remember your guide does this for a living so bring some cash in order to tip them what you think it was worth at the end. Otherwise skulk away guiltily!
Rome's city center is almost wall-to-wall with significant landmarks. There are few cities so easy to tour with just a map and there are even apps available for further guidance. For a truly enlightening experience, however, you can't beat a good guide! What People Are Saying About Rome
We are glad we booked in advance, and fully enjoyed our visit to Vaticano! It was perfect
Would highly recommend. Well organised and the guide was very knowledgeable and made the trip very interesting.
Really great tour with a fantastic tour guide. Very informative and presented in a relaxed and comfortable manner. Well worth the money and would highly recommend booking.
I would definitely recommend going with a tour guide otherwise you will not know what you are looking at. You can ask questions, the tour guide remains with you the whole time and when you are finished the 3 hours you can explore more of the St Peters if you want to. I wouldn't recommend this tour to anyone who cannot walk / stand for 3 hours. There is no rest period, which if fine for those who are able.
The tour of the coloseum was done in a great format with all the relevant historic details without getting overloaded. Thanks to Stephan who was happy to answer all questions competently. He makes a great photographer too !! The palaces and ancient Rome section was great too.
