What to Expect
On this full-day tour you’ll visit the largest and most spectacular basilicas in Rome, reliving the Jubilee of the Middle Ages during the Holy Year.

Begin by the Holy Door and continue to St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican. The Basilica was built by Constantine in 324, and is considered by Catholics to be the mother church. It is also the largest church in the world, and home to works of art by some of the greatest artists, including Giotto and Michelangelo.

Your tour continues with a visit to St. Paul’s Basilica, which stands on the site where St. Paul was buried. It was built first as a burial chapel, then later transformed into a Basilica by Constantine and consecrated by Pope Sylvester I.

Next on the itinerary is the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran, the cathedral of the Diocese of Rome and the official ecclesiastical seat of the Pope.

The day ends at the famous Basilica of Saint Mary Major, the first basilica dedicated to Mary. The Basilica stands at the top of Cispio, one of the peaks of the Esquiline Hill.

According to legend, in 352, the Pope had a dream that the Madonna instructed him to build a church where he found snow. On the morning of 5 August, in the middle of a hot Roman summer, it snowed on Esquilino Hill, and the Pope obeyed the instruction, ordering the church to be built that is now called St. Mary of the Snow.
