Full description
Taste the best food in Rome on this 4-hour food and wine walking tour through the neighborhood of Trastevere. Indulge in 20 delicious tastings with your guide, who will take you to four local venues loved by locals. Your tours starts at Trapizzino, where you will create your own trapizzino with fillings from Roman classics to gourmet ingredients, such as burrata and anchovies, artichokes, Roman oxtail stew, parmigiana di melanzane, meatballs, and more. Also enjoy a glass of wine served alongside your trapizzino. From Trapizzino, continue your tour at an award-winning salumeria, offering the best Italian types of cheeses and meats. Taste Parmigiano Reggiano drizzled with a 30-year aged balsamic vinegar, sweet Gorgonzola, truffles, and Pecorino Romano. A glass of DOCG Chianti wine will be waiting for you to compliment the food. Next, head to a local favorite restaurant to savor homemade fresh pasta and pizza from the oldest wood-fired oven in Trastevere and taste some fine wine along with it. Your tour ends at an artisanal gelateria, where you will learn how to spot real gelato with flavors, like pistacchio from Sicily and limone from the Amalfi Coast.

We spent four hours with Francesca on the Trastevere food and wine tour. I can’t imagine a better experience. We started with appetizers and ended with gelato. She was knowledgeable not only of food in Rome but the difference between Rome and American “versions” of Italian food. She shared so much with the group.

We did the Prati tour in the end because many destinations from the Trastevere tour were closed for summer holidays (we were notified in advance). The food was great with different options at each stop and the huge quantity left everyone satisfied. Our Guide Francesca was very friendly and easy to talk to. She also provided useful information about Italian Cuisine.

We had an absolutely amazing experience on the trip, which was a really good way to experience the area and talk to other tourists while getting great food. We had a skilled guide, Fransesca, who was good at bringing the group together and making the trip more personal. We will definitely be taking a Food Tour again another time!
