What to Expect
This tour starts at the Spanish Steps walking all the way downhill to Piazza Navona, where the tour concludes. Along the way, you will see and learn the secrets of some of Rome’s most iconic monuments and landmarks (as well as some marvels you do not yet know of) Leaving the Spanish Steps and the beautiful baroque fountain, the Barcaccia, you will make your way to the Trevi Fountain. Forget what you think you know about this fountain, there are several myths and stories surrounding this unique monument, many of which will surprise and amaze you. Don’t forget to throw a coin into the fountain before you leave to ensure you will return to Rome again one day.

Your next stop will be the Pantheon, a marvel of 2nd century Roman architecture incredibly still standing today in its original form. The building has never been restored or reinforced. Originally a pagan temple built by the Roman Emperor Adrian, this building is a Roman Catholic Church today and one of the central sites in Dan Brown’s famous Angels and Demons novel. The lively and gorgeous Piazza Navona will be your final stop and for a good reason. This piazza is the longest in Rome (apart from St Peter’s Square technically in Vatican City which is a different state). It is remarkable for its shape and the three baroque fountains which adorn the central nave and the beautiful church facing its central fountain (the most famous of the three, the Fountain of Four Rivers also features in Angels and Demons).

There are some fascinating and amusing anecdotes about the rivalry between the great architects responsible for the buildings and fountains found in this piazza. The relaxing, yet vibrant, evening atmosphere is another one of the reasons not to miss out on this charming piazza. After your tour, your guide will be happy to recommend one of the many restaurants, pizzerias, and trattorias in the area (as well as telling you which ones to avoid). During the tour, you will also have the chance to sample another one of Rome’s great pleasures – the gelato (ice-cream). Your guide will take you to one of the best gelateria in the city, where you can choose your favorite flavors.
