We booked our Pompeii and Herculaneum trip through Askos Tours using the GetMyGuide app. Taking the high-speed train from Rome to Naples was so easy (we have friends who made the same trip but took a bus and it took four hours instead of one hour to get home). Our guide Michele (pronounced Michael) is in fact an archaeologist and was profoundly knowledgeable about everything we were seeing. Compared to those wandering around aimlessly with hand-held audio guides, we had an amazing day visiting these two incredible sites. Yes, it’s a long day of ruins (and dead people) but it was fascinating and Michele was personable, informative, helpful, warm, friendly and provided us a day we’ll remember for a very long time. Thank you Michele!

Full description

Catch a fast train with your pre-booked tickets from Roma Termini Station to Naples and enjoy a guided tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum in a small group. Escape the hustle and bustle of the Italian capital for the day. Meet your guide upon arrival at Naples central station. Take a short drive by comfortable minibus from Naples to Pompeii. Visit the highlights of Pompeii with your archaeologist guide including the newly-opened houses, the plaster casts of victims, the brothel, and much more. Enjoy some free time for shopping or for lunch. Set off on a quick transfer to Herculaneum by minibus for a two-hour visit of the site. Discover the ruins and other archeological highlights; stop at the House of Neptune and Amphitrite, and at the beach where hundred of skeletons are preserved. Relax on a minbus transfer back to Naples central station to catch a fast train back to Roma Termini Station. Trains from Rome are comfortable and high-speed, reaching Naples in just 70 minutes.

Departure is from Roma Termini station where you will travel independently using high-speed train tickets provided by us to Naples Central Station. Upon arrival, meet us in front of the STARHOTEL TERMINUS entrance located opposite the station. Look for the guide holding an ASKOS TOURS sign.
