Full description
Explore the history and lesser-known facts about the best-preserved monument from Ancient Rome on a 45-minute guided tour of the Pantheon. Learn how the basilica has represented the expression of the glory of Rome for over 2,000 years. Learn how the building inspired one of the great artists of the Renaissance when Raphael chose it as his place of eternal rest. Founded by Marcus Agrippa between 25 and 27 BC as a temple to the 12 gods, the building was originally part of a complex created on his property in the Campus Martius. Learn how the remains of many martyrs were removed from the Christian catacombs and placed in the Pantheon on the orders of Pope Boniface IV In 608. Marvel at the immense dome with a diameter of 43,30 meters and its famous oculus that allows natural light to illuminate the beautiful interior.

The Jewel of the city. Breathtaking!

The tour guide was informative and gave our small group historical background knowledge of the Pantheon. Rome's history is plentiful, but I consider the Pantheon the number one tourist spot to visit. Stunning! I highly recommend going early in the morning with a tour guide to point out detailed facts of this historic site.

Excellent guide and tour, possibly over-priced.

We had a tour with Valentina which was excellent and her knowledge of the Pantheon and Roman/Italian history was very good. I think perhaps the tour could be slightly cheaper on the basis that entrance is free to the Pantheon and the audio tour is 6 Euro. I think then more people would take up the guided tour.

      A great visit

My 14 year old and I were luck to have the guide to ourselves and we had a great time listening to our lovely guide. She was very knowledgeable and happy to answer our questions. She made our visit to the Pantheon even more special. It was a great treat and I would definitely recommend this visit if you are interest in art and history.
