What to Expect
Take a private pilgrim tour through Rome, and follow in the footsteps of St. Paul, one of the key figures in the foundation of the Christian church. Visit the places of St. Paul’s imprisonment and martyrdom, and relive the struggles of the very first followers of Christ.

Following a pick-up from your hotel, go to the Papal Basilica of St. Paul Outside-the-Walls (Basilica Papale di San Paolo Fuori le Mura), one of the 4 major basilicas of the Roman Catholic Church. According to Christian tradition, the church was built over the tomb of the apostle, not far from the site of his martyrdom. In 2016, the Holy Door (normally cemented shut) will be opened to the public for the Jubilee Year of Mercy.

Next, go to the site of the martyrdom of St. Paul at the Abbey of Tre Fontane. Today it’s a peaceful monastery in the heart of Rome, and one of the most venerated places for pilgrims. Christian tradition holds that the Roman court sentenced the apostle to death for professing his creed. When Paul was beheaded his head bounced 3 times, miraculously producing 3 springs of water. See the 3 springs that still flow in the sanctuary of the monastery.

End at the Mamertine Prison (Carcere Mamertino) where the Apostles St. Paul and St. Peter were imprisoned for 9 months. According to legend, they miraculously made water appear to baptize the guardians.
