In addition to its traditional thousand-year-old history Rome has an eerie and magical side, as you’ll learn on this evening bike tour. Hear about beheadings and ghosts and visit talking statues, experiencing the city from a very different perspective.
What to Expect
Discover the secrets of Rome on a 4-hour evening bike tour that’s available in your choice of several languages.
Learn about the beheading of Beatrice Cenci at Castel Sant’Angelo. According to the legend, her ghost still roams its bridge. Continue on to Piazza del Popolo, the site of a deconsecrated cemetery.
Beware of the ghost of Olimpia Pamphili that is said to ride across Piazza Navona on a chariot towed by black horses. Experience the unreal atmosphere of Piazza di Spagna, haunted by the ghost of the English poet John Keats, and by the ghost of Emperor Nero and the wild beasts of the Coliseum.
You’ll also hear the folk tales and stories that surround the so-called talking statues. In the past, several statues located in the alleys of the Eternal City were used to hang satirical poems attacking the powerful popes and emperors.
For this reason, they were called talking statues, as they often gave rise to distant dialogues, or pasquinate. Pasquino is the most famous talking statue in Rome, and on this tour you will discover many more of them.
