Discover the fascinating cities of Pompeii and Naples during your stay in Rome. Enjoy pick-up from your hotel and the drive south through the incredible landscape.
After 3 hours, arrive in Naples and discover the most beautiful sights of the city. Drive down the coast to the Neapolitan fishing district of Santa Lucia and see the Castel dell'Ovo, the medieval castle directly on the sea.
Then travel on to the historical city center with the Piazza del Plebiscito, the impressive plaza with the royal palace (Palacio Real), 3 further Bourbon palaces and an imposing church decorated with colonnades, the Basilica San Francesco di Paola. Hear information about the history of Naples when it flourished in the 19th century under Bourbon rule. See the San Carlo Opera house, the Galleria Umberto I and the incredible Castel Nuovo.
Leave the city behind and drive south to Mount Vesuvius. Pass Ercolano, Torre del Greco and Torre Annunziata, before you arrive in Pompeii. After a refreshing lunch in a traditional restaurant enter the UNESCO World Heritage site of the ruins of Pompeii. On a 2-hour walking tour, learn how the old city lay buried under volcanic ashes from Mount Vesuvius for hundreds of years and see the incredible excavation of old monuments like the Teatro Grande, which once could seat 5,000 people.
After the tour, return north in the direction of Rome. Alternately, end the tour on the Via Veneto, Piazza Barberini, Piazza Venezia or the Piazza della Repubblica.
