What to Expect
During this afternoon tour, you will see sights such as the Roman Forum, the Colosseum and the Basilica San Pietro in Vincoli (St Peter's in Chains).
The tour starts at the Piazza Venezia, where you will see an impressive monument dedicated to King Victor Emanuel II and the Unknown Soldier. Continue the walk and go to the well-known Piazza del Campidoglio (designed by the genius Michelangelo), from where you have a great view on the Roman Forum. After having had an introduction to the Roman Forum, you will go ahead and see the Colosseum from the inside. The Colosseum is the largest arena constructed in the Roman empire and is considered to be one of greatest works of Roman architecture and Roman engineering.
Next, head to the Circus Maximus by coach and see the Pyramid of Caius Cestius, before finally arriving at the Basilica San Pietro in Vincoli (St.Peter in Chains), where you have the opportunity to see the famous Moses statue by Michelangelo, which is part of the tomb of Pope Julius II.
