What to Expect
Start your day by visiting Christ The Redeemer, one of the New Seven Wonders of The World. On the way there, you will drive by Tijuca National Park, lush with tropical plants and trees with lots of animals such as capuchin monkeys, sagui monkeys, armadillos, snakes, sloths, and much more. You will also drive by Santa Teresa district, a picturesque place where lots of artists live and looks like another city inside the city of Rio de Janeiro.
Your next step will be the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Selaron Steps, a wide concrete stairway changed by the artist Selaron from Chile dramatically. He started by setting colorful tiles on the steps. In the beginning, the tiles were all in the colors of Brazil (green, yellow, blue, and white) but then he added the red tiles, making it an attraction. Later, he started asking people to send tiles from their original hometowns and now, you can find tiles from all over the world. Have lunch in the area. Toward the end the day, you will visit one of the most charming places in the world, Sugar Loaf Mountain.
