Full description

Spend the day exploring the dramatic landscapes of the southern Iceland coastline on a full-day sightseeing tour from Reykjavik. See more iconic sites beyond the Golden Circle and discover the waterfalls, mountains, and glaciers that shape the unique geography of this land.

Start at two of Iceland's biggest and best waterfalls that cascade from 60 meters. Climb the 370 steps to the top of Skógafoss, whose water and light play produces rainbows. Stand behind the Seljalandsfoss falls and feel the intense rush of water from inside the cliff cave it washes over.

After sweeping views of the coastline from the falls, it's time to get closer. Pass Reynisfjara – the most famous black sand beach in Iceland, and experience the power of the sea and the erosion of the volcanic rock.

Visit the glacier snout of Sólheimajökull, connected to the colossal glacier of Mýrdalsjökull – the fourth largest ice cap in the country. Admire the thick, jagged ice ledges and the ever-changing feat of nature up-close.

Finish in the fishing village of Vik, Iceland's southernmost town just south of the Mýrdalsjökull glacier. Debate if the basalt towers are from volcanic activity or the stuff of legend. Rumour has it that each pillar was once a naughty troll who was turned into a rock by the sun.

Enjoy more of southern Iceland's iconic scenery from your bus window on the drive back to Reykjavik, where you will be dropped off at your starting point.

Really enjoyed the tour. Climbed a waterfall and went behind one. Also black beach was very interesting. Lots of time at each stop. Stopped at Vik for lunch. Lots of places for bathroom breaks. Driver Miko was very skilled and our guide Jano (probably spelled wrong) gave us lots of interesting info. She was able to avoid the rain most of the time.

Our 2nd bus tour of our one week stay. We were delighted to be able to see Vik and its black sand beaches with this tour because we had given up on it to get there on our own without a permit. In addition to that, our guide, Geri, warned us well against the rogue waves and the dangerousness of these beaches. I would have paid less attention if I went there alone. The other stops we made, in particular the Skogafoss waterfall, were really impressive and completely blew us away. The information given by the guide was very interesting and despite tight timing for each stop, we took advantage of every second. I really recommend the tours available on Get your Guide. Very easy to book, and allows peace of mind of organization and the assurance of having information from Icelandic with our guides.
