The dazzling blue ice floes in the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon are a spectacular sight, and one of many you’ll see on this excursion. Travel by minibus from Reykjavik along the south coast of Iceland, and stop at spectacular waterfalls en route.
What to Expect
Your 14-hour excursion begins with a drive to the Seljalandsfoss waterfall. This is a unique attraction, as you can actually walk behind the waterfall – although raincoats are recommended!
Along the way to Iceland’s south coast you’ll stop to see another waterfall. There’s a path that you can take to see the magnificent Skógafoss waterfall from above.
Continue on to the black sand beach of Reynisfjara, where you’ll admire the Reynisdrangar rock formations, before stopping in Vík for lunch.
After lunch the tour continues to Skaftafell, making a short stop at Kirkjubæjarklaustur. Then you’ll finally reach the magnificent Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon!
Enjoy an amphibious boat ride that’s fun for all ages. You'll also have plenty of time to explore the area before you head back to Reykjavík.
Please note that the boat ride is possible in summer only and operates until the middle of October. The price for the tour is lower when the boat is not operating. During the winter months you'll be on the lookout for the northern lights!
On the drive back to Reykjavik you'll be able to use the free WiFi on the bus to post pictures and videos from the tour. As this is a guided tour you'll have the benefit of a knowledgeable guide who will tell you all about sites of interest along the way.
