Rethymno: Full-Day Small-Group Tour with Lunch

6. Rethymno: Full-Day Small-Group Tour with Lunch

Start your Rethymno excursion with a visit to Maria's traditional wood oven bakery, passed down from generation to generation, in the picturesque village of Axos. Here, enjoy a short demonstration on how to make traditional Cretan baked goods, like paximadi, a twice baked bread, and smell the freshly-baked biscuits coming straight out of the oven. Close off this visit with a sip of local Raki, a fragrant, grape-based pomace brandy. Learn how Cretans have used sheep's wool to create intricate patterns over the decades, and follow the process from start to finish from the spinning of the wool to the weaving in a traditional loom. After another drink of warming Raki, visit the ancient St. George of Diskouri Monastery to learn about Crete's long-standing religious customs. Marvel at the premises, full of colourful flowers, and verdant trees and bushes, all carefully tended to by the nuns. What people are saying about Rethymno

That was a really great day! Felt more like a trip together with a friend than a guided tour. Angelina picked us up on time and showed us several wonderful places over the course of the tour that we would certainly not have seen on our own. The swim stop was wonderful, the gorge was an experience. And in Spili, too, we saw beautiful alleys and peculiarities that would probably have remained hidden to us on our own. We had a good chat all day and learned a lot about the area and life here. Angelina speaks excellent English and also very good German. We can unreservedly recommend the tour to anyone who wants to get a taste of the south of Crete! Thank you for the nice day, Angelina!

We had a great day with Angelina Patronne and Alexia Champignonne. They have been wonderful. Good discovery of the Cretan landscape in good humor, sympathy and simplicity. We highly recommend this service which is completely private. A big thank you for this beautiful day

This meal was one of the highlights of our trip to Crete. Sitting in a family owned olive grove, we were introduced to the flavors and recipes of the healthiest food culture in the world with authenticity and heart. Will recommend to everyone in the area.

Such an amazing tour with a personal touch. You get to visit a hidden gem in Crete which was the most beautiful place we visited on the whole holiday, and no other tours include this. Not to be missed!! You also do not take up too much time travelling.

Such a beautiful setting and loved learning & tasting different olive oils.
