Full description
This full-day tour begins with a pick-up at 9:00 AM at the forecourt of the Reims-Centre train station (Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday). When you arrive in the Champagne region, you’ll start off with a sightseeing tour of Reims. The city of coronations, Reims is also the city of Champagne, the most celebrated and festive of wines. On the way, hear about Reims, the city where the Kings of France were crowned, and arrive at the Veuve Cliquot Champagne Estate (visit and tasting fees included). Enjoy a guided tour of the grand estate, finishing with an expert-led tasting of Veuve Cliquot Champagne. Pay a visit to the magnificent Notre-Dame de Reims Cathedral. Explore inside the UNESCO-listed wonder on a guided tour and admire the 13th-century cathedral, with its striking Gothic architecture and beautiful stained glass windows. After that, take a scenic drive through the vineyards of Montagne de Reims, passing through the Grand Cru villages of Verzenay and Mailly, as your guide explains the Champagne making process. Take a picture at the vineyards and hear about the importance of ‘terroir’ in cultivating the grapes. You will then stop at a Champagne family estate and discover a different side to the prestigious Champagne industry. Savor a 3-course Champagne lunch where you are treated to delicious regional specialties, accompanied by a selection of 3 Champagnes and coffee/tea. After lunch, enjoy a visit to the production site, and discover how Champagne is made. Finish this amazing program with another tasting of 3 Champagne glasses (different ones), one of which may be replaced by a glass of Ratafia (sweet liquor of Champagne brandy with grape juice). On return to Reims, your tour ends back at the train station at 5 PM.

Excellent and knowledgeable guide sharing a great variety of activitie

This was an excellent tour. Ann Marie was passionate and engaging responding to all of our individual needs as well as those of the group. The chosen vineyards were diverse and each had a unique story. This combined with the city tour and Cathedral tour of Reims was a great balance. Thank you.
