What to Expect
See the "capital city of mosaics," Ravenna, in all her glory on this 3-hour guided tour. You'll get to see and learn about all the most famous monuments in the city, and also get insider knowledge on Byzantine art, history, architecture and culture.
The tour includes the Gothic Basilica of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo, the splendid Byzantine Church of San Vitale, the most ancient Mausoleum of Galla Placidia and the Orthodox Baptistery located near the cathedral. All these marvels can be seen simply by taking a stroll through the centre of Ravenna.
During the walk through the pedestrian area, you will have a chance to step into a mosaic workshop, pause for coffee in the main square and visit the Tomb of Dante Alighieri, Italy's most distinguished poet, who died here in 1321.

Know Before You Go
Information for cruise guests: I suggest you ask at the help desk of your ship if the shuttle bus service between the pier of Porto Corsini and Ravenna center is available. Usually this service is offered by the ship, but it's better to ask about it before. If You prefer the private taxi, this service costs around 25 € one way.
