On this tour, drive to Chefchaouen via the Rif Mountain, crossing Wazzan and other Rif villages. Chefchaouen Medina is the focal point for most people who visit Chefchaouen. Walking around the town with its whitewashed walls, originally decorated in this style by Jewish immigrants, can be a nice change to the hustle and bustle of the cities of Marrakech, Rabat, and Fez. Ras el Maa, a waterfall to the east of the medina, is a meeting point for local residents who come to cool off, chat and do their laundry. The café nearby is rather expensive, however its a nice change from the main square. Jemaa Bouzafar, the ruins of an old mosque, can be found on a hill behind the waterfall, overlooking the medina. Its crumbling tower offers great views of the town. Visit the Kasbah, which is well-preserved and looks quite interesting from the outside, even if there isn't much to see inside. The tower and the prison, amongst other areas, are worth a visit, and the courtyard is green and almost alien amdist the mountain setting. The hill of the Hotel Atlas has a good viewpoint of the town and the valley, especially during sunsets. It can be reached from the south gate of the medina by climbing the road coasting the medina on the west side until the east gate, and then uphill, crossing the old cemetery on a rocky path.
