Full description

Visit Cotopaxi National Park in Ecuador’s Andes Mountains. The park is home to the active Cotopaxi volcano that towers 19,642 feet above sea level. When you reach the park your naturalist guide will show you the exceptional variety of flora and fauna. Hike to the Limpiopungo lagoon, located on the slopes of the volcano. Stop at the lagoon for a short rest to take in the landscapes and the spectacular views of the volcano. Continue the hike to the Jose Ribas shelter and experience the environment at almost 16,000 feet above sea level.

Excellent day trip. Our guide Jessica and the driver were wonderful. I will give Jessica full credit for my 7+ year old kiddo reaching Cotopaxi refuge! Both Jessica and the driver made multiple stops and made sure we had wonderful pics& memories to take back with us.

picked up on time, met with the very friendly our guide, Irene, and also the driver Ivan. Irene told us so many stories about ecuador in general and also volcanoes, she knows a lot about volcanoes. unfortunately the weather wasnt on our side. when we arrived at the national park it was drizzling and foggy all the way we barely can see anything. but the hike is still very memorable. its one of the hardest hike ive ever had (im not an expert hiker btw) and its a great experience. i also meet aome good friends at the tour and can really recommend anyone to join the tour.

Overall a great trip. Pickup was convenient and the driving professional. Plenty of small stops and chances to resupply or go to the toilet. Mauro was an excellent guide, explained things well, and kept an eye on everything (and got us carrots to feed some llamas). The hike might be a bit taxing if you're not in shape or acclimated to the air density in the Ecuador mountain region, but it's relatively short and very rewarding once you reach the base camp. Excellent day trip to do solo or as a small group.
