What to Expect
Take a full-day tour of New Zealand's South Island while transferring from Queenstown to Christchurch. This tour features 6 stops along a route that runs from Queenstown, up to Aoraki-Mt. Cook, New Zealand's highest peak, and then on to the city of Christchurch along the east coast.
Leaving from Queenstown after pick-up at your hotel, you will first head toward Aoraki-Mt. Cook. Stop at Jones Family Orchard, where you can enjoy tasting the region's delicious fruit. Next head to Lake Dunstan, a manmade reservoir with orchards nearby.
Continuing on through the Lindis Pass, the highest point in the South Island's highway system, you will visit Aoraki-Mt. Cook up close. Stop in Mt. Cook Village for approximately 1.5 hours and explore the walkways, eat some lunch, or take a flying tour (all at extra cost). Or you may opt to visit the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Center, which is not included in tour price.
Then head down to Lake Tekapo, where you can see the Church of the Good Shepherd and a spectacular view of the Southern Alps. Enter Christchurch via the Canterbury Plains, which boasts hundreds of beautiful vineyards.
Upon reaching Christchurch, you will be transferred to your accommodation.
