Full description
Discover Isla Saona, a Caribbean oasis off the southern coast of the Dominican Republic. Find out how, originally named Adamanay by the Taino Indians, the island was renamed by Christopher Columbus, during his second voyage to the Americas in 1494.  Begin the tour by boarding a speedboat and jetting off to Saona Island. On the way, stop to swim in a waist-deep natural swimming pool with transparent waters. If you're lucky you'll see some starfish. When you arrive at Isla Saona, you'll have many activities to choose from. Wade in the turquoise waters, visit the open bar, take a nap on a beach lounge chair, walk along the coastline, or play volleyball. Indulge in a typical Dominican lunch of chicken, pork, rice, beans, salad, and fruit. You can even enjoy lobster and premium drinks when you book the VIP option. In itself it was a great, worthwhile excursion. However, we were picked up 3/4 hour later than announced & the free time available on the island was also reduced from 3h to 2h including lunch, which from our point of view was WAY too short for that being the highlight the island should be. The animation, the rides on the boats were great. Great vibe, good food. Although it loses its exclusivity due to 'mass tourism', it was a great day out knowing that you are not visiting the island 'alone'. On the way back to the hotels, there was a short stop at a souvenir shop with toilets, which was not specified in the itinerary. We could well and gladly do without that.

We were picked up near our house, with a bus we went towards the boarding and taken by fast boat to the island and by catamaran to return, all in the name of relaxation, fun, drinks and food included and lots of music! We enjoyed and relaxed… the island a Caribbean dream! I highly recommend it to cheerful and bubbly people!

Our journey started at 7:20 a.m. in the hotel, the journey to the port took a long time because we had to wait for other passengers who came too late and also made a 15-minute stop at a shop that would like to get you to do something to buy. Shortly before 10 a.m. we were at the port and had to wait until we could finally board the speedboat. The ride was fine. Was a little tight as we all had to wear life jackets. The first stop was at the sandbank, it was nice, photographers take photos of you there and you have to say the people are not that pushy. Lots of rum and coke was great Continue to Saona island (stay 2.5 hours) was nice with the right people. The water is gorgeous. The only thing is that the beach chairs are not really comfortable for the visitors. And are useful. Very broken and not maintained. Toilets as well.. The catamaran ride was fun, music, drinking and the perfect people then everything fits!
