Day 2 – Poreč to Umag - 50 km (31 miles)
Starting with a walking tour of the town, ride along the old city center and towards the coast. See the Roman Forum, the Euphrasian Basilica, breathtaking Mediterranean landscape, and blossoming vineyards and olive groves. Taste local food, wine, brand, and honey before arriving at Višnjan to experience the local observatory. Arrive in Umag, explore the town’s rich historical heritage, and stay overnight.
Day 3 – Umag to Buzet – 72 km (45 miles)
Have breakfast before riding across Grožnjan; known as the city of artists, visit its various art studios, galleries, and magnificent architecture. Continue through, and see the sights of, Šterna and Oprtalj, arriving in the afternoon at Buzet; known as the City of Truffles owing to its abundance of the delicacy in its surrounding forests.
Day4 – Buzet to Rabac – 70km (43 miles)
After an overnight stay in Buzet, head towards the picturesque medieval town of Draguć. Explore its majestic architecture and then travel to the heart of Istria in Pazin to discover the educational and cultural center of the region. Visit the castle which houses the Museum of Istria and the Municipal Museum. Continue further through Kršan and on to Rabac, the pearl of the Kvarner bay, where you will stay overnight.
Day 5 – Rabac to Pula – 58 km (36 miles)
Ride across Raša, the first modern mining town in Istria, through Barban, and on to Pula, visiting the Liburna nature reserve on the way. Built on seven hills, Pula is the largest city in Istria. Explore the city, including its magnificent amphitheater and the 1st century Sergius' Triumphal Arch.
Day 6 – Pula to Rovinj – 59 km (37 miles)
Continue along the coast to Rovini after breakfast. Head towards the Bale region, known for its glorious Gothic Soardo-Bembo castle, and Renaissance period St. Julian Church. Ride along the ancient Roman road Via Flava. Visit the citadel, parish church, and the local 16th century houses.
Day 7 – Rovinj to Poreč – 57 km (35 miles)
Finish your week long cycle with the return ride to Poreč. Travel over Kanfanar to the ruins of the medieval town Dvigrad; an historic town that was once devastated by the plague said to be cause by an ancient curse of the buried treasure of Captain Morgan. Journey along the coastline to reach the romantic fishing village of Vrsar, favored by the famous lothario Casanova.
Stay one last night in Poreč before departing on the morning of day 8, after one final breakfast.
