Discover the natural habitat of the Humpback Whale and their young as they migrate from the North Atlantic to the warmer, shallow waters of the Dominican Republic.
What to Expect
Experience the annual migration of the Humpback Whale as they make their way from the cold waters of the North Atlantic to the warmer shallow waters of the Dominican Republic, where they mate and give birth to their young.
The most popular breeding ground is Silver Bank, the 3,000 square kilometer reef system is 70 miles north of Puerto Plata, but Samana Bay boasts a winter population of over 1,500 Humpback Whales with hundreds visible at any given time from January through March.
View these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat and look for the calves following their mothers later in the season.
After your whale watching adventure, visit Cayo Levantado where you can treat yourself to lunch with options ranging from BBQ chicken to seafood. Or simply relax and try a local cocktail such as the Coco Loco or a Piña Colada.
