What You'll Do
  • Witness the falls from the Brazilian side filled with spectacular panoramic views
  • Walk through the subtropical forest of Iguassu National Park
  • Visit the Itaipu Dam and the Itaipú Hydroelectric Factory
Crossing to the Brazilian side not only will visitors be dazzled by the fantastic view of Iguazú Falls but during this tour we will also visit Itaipú Hydroelectric Factory, which is considered the seventh created wonder of modern world.
What to Expect
Iguassu Falls were created as the result of a volcanic eruption which left a large crack in the earth. They are taller than Niagara Falls and twice as wide with 275 cascading falls spread out in a horseshoe fashion covering nearly two miles. During the rainy season, between November and March, the rate of water flow over the falls can reach over 450,000 cubic feet (12,750 cubic m) per second.

The Devil´s Throat (also know as “Garganta del Diablo”) is best seen from the Brazilian side. Here fourteen falls drop 350 feet with such force that a 100 foot tall cloud of mist stays permanently suspended overhead. Watch for the rainbow!

For a close up view, walk through the subtropical forest of Iguassu National Park to the base of Salto Floriano and take the elevator to the top of the falls, or walk out over the falls at Salto Union.

Iguassu National Park is open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Itaipu Dam is the largest operational hydroelectric power plant in the world. Built on the Paraná River near the border between Brazil and Paraguay, the plant generates a power of 12,600 Megawatts, that’s 25% of the electricity consumed by Brazil and 95% of the energy consumed by Paraguay.

The volume of concrete used to construct the reservoir could construct 210 stadiums the size of Maracaná (The largest soccer stadium in the world located in Rio de Janeiro). The iron and the steel used would be enough to construct a building 380 times the size of the Eiffel Tower.
