Full description
A charming performance from a 19-century music salon awaits you, with the most beautiful Dvořák arias and melodies: Rusalka, the Jakobín, Moravian duets, Biblical songs, Gypsy songs, love songs, Sonatine, romance, Stabat Mater, Mazurek and others. The impressiveness of the performance is emphasized not only by the incredible baroque interior, but also the physical closeness of the performers with the spectators. All guests are invited to visit the museum and toast the performance with a glass of Becherovka.  The scenario takes place on May 1st 1904. The soprano opera singer Marie has organized an afternoon musical party at her home. Her salon is one of the most highly favored in Prague, and so outstanding artists have gathered here. Even the master Antonín Dvořák has come. Each performer will play or sing the work of the master that he or she likes best. The cast is comprised of leading Czech opera soloists and great violin virtuosos. The performance is featured in English or Czech, with arias in original, and the programs are available in several languages. The set is about 80 minutes long without interlude. The performances are organized under the auspices of UNESCO – there have been more than 1800 performances to this day.  The venue is Villa America: A. Dvořák Museum, Ke Karlovu 20, Praha 2.  It is a summer palace with an imposing baroque fireplace of Václav Michna from Vacínov in the heart of Prague, built by Kilián Ignác Diezenhofer between 1712 and 1720 with a ceiling fresco "Reis of Apollo" by Jan Ferdinand Schor. In the lovely baroque garden are sculptures and vases by Matyáš Braun or his pupils. Wonderful Dvořák is played from May to October every Tuesday and Friday at 20.00.

It was a highlight for us. Bravi! Bravissimi!

The artistic was a pleasure and we were thrilled. Too bad that only 4 people, including us, formed the audience. The artists deserve a full hall. However, the Internet advertising and the voucher promised pick up at the hotel, which did not happen. Luckily we called the number mentioned, especially since the address of the concert place did not appear anywhere. Our suggestion for improvement (advertising only): - do not give the impression, you would be picked up - the exact address, best with Wegebeschreibung, specify.

Great performances in an intimate setting

This concert was all Dvorak, vocal works and violin pieces. Much better than many of the classical music concerts in Prague. This was serious Dvorak sung in Czech by very accomplished artists. The three violin solos we're beautifully played and r evelations. I am a violinist and was really impressed with the performance! But don't be put off if you are not a hardcore music buff. The performers are in period costumes and there is a story line in English which makes the performance very accessible. The performance is at the Dvorak museum. You can thoroughly see the exhibits in 15 minutes. The performance is in an upstairs salon with great acoustics and seating for only 50. Overall a very memorable evening. Go!
