The deep forests of the area were restricted during the last communist regime of the Czech Republic, which is why the land has retained is rare beauty and purity. Wander deep into the woodland, and discover its beautiful flora and fauna, crystal-clear glacial lakes, and rural mountain villages. Learn from your expert guide about the many endangered animals and plants that call the park their home, as you explore this stunning UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. During the tour, visit two of the most beautiful glacial lakes, named Black and Devil, connected together with a 9 km hiking trail. Admire the scenic views as you walk along the forest to reach the Blake lake, which is the largest and deepest lake in the Šumava and the Bavarian Forest. The lake’s name comes from the black-looking surface of the water which gives the lake its mysterious appearance and reflects the forest trees that surround it. After the lakes, take a break and recharge your energy supplies with a delicious traditional Czech lunch. Once lunch is finished, visit two natural peat-bogs which are very typical for this region and have existed here since the last glacial period.
